About Me

I’m a web developer and ceramicist currently based in Cupertino, California.

I was first drawn to pottery by the way the process teaches you to accept the past and keep moving forward. From throwing to trimming to firing, each stage offers only a limited window to shape the work — and once complete, is irreversible. With previous interests, I’ve always struggled to produce anything because I’d constantly fiddle with small details to the point where I’d just grow tired and frustrated. Pottery has really taught me a lot about embracing what’s possible and that the end result is not the only thing that matters.

My bad habits are still there (I’ve practiced for 2 years now and have almost no pieces to show for it!) but my skills are progressing. More importantly my love for this art form has also grown tremendously. I continue to find a lot of fulfillment through pursuing precision and consistency, but I also understand it’s important to finish pieces as they give you precious chances to look back and appreciate the journey. In the end that’s what life’s about, right?
